What is social change?

Social change means dismantling the pain we see in ourselves, and in society, and creating new equitable experiences that support people, build communities and create equitable power.

Through strategies (direction, systems, impact) and culture (people, place, patterns) we inspire and enable change.

What is healing-centred design?

Healing-centred design is a creative process that combines design and wellbeing practices, to create supportive solutions that dismantle equality and nurture healing.

We use design thinking, along with systemic approaches, coproduction, creative facilitation and coaching to help people and organisations design the future we all need.

Our philosophy: TLC

  • Trust - we build trust through words and actions

  • Listen - we listen deeply to people closest to inequality to learn what works

  • Change - we design and develop creative ways to solve problems and enable change

Our Healing-Centred Design Principles

  1. Rhythm and Ritual - practices that create patterns and certainty

  2. Filter - processes to help sort, prioritise and make choices

  3. Collide and align- blending ideas from different sources to create something new

  4. Transition - creating spaces in between, pauses for processing and reflection

  5. Contribute and benefit - balancing giving and receiving for equity and sustainability

“Your genuine warmth and interest in us all was wonderful, I enjoyed the creative process of mapping and linking our influences. We were there as a group but each working on our own journey”

Development day with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Leadership team

Our founder had joked about "another planning day surrounded by post-it notes".. but it was so far from this, with so much creativity and even a bit of storytelling, we now have our plan for the next 3 years.

Thank you so much Kerry.

I’m a design-thinker, mother and maker - and Strategic Lead for A Brilliant Thing CIC. But I’m not alone! Our 4 co-directors, are my mum, Lynn, sisters Faye and Tess and myself. Tess works in the company with me, as Development Lead along with our lovely freelance collaborators.

Together we bring a depth of skills in therapeutic counselling, coaching, organisational and community development, people management, design-thinking and experience across charity, NHS, public and private sectors.

We care deeply about creating work that inspires positive social change, and nourishes the person behind that work. We value equality, integrity and kindness and these qualities guide our contribution to society.

Our favourite phrase is said with a twinkle of the eyes, 'I have an idea...'
